Teaching and conducting research at Montpellier 1 University
Spending time at Montpellier 1 University
Depending on your situation, you can spend time at Montpellier 1 University as:
- A post-doctoral student
- A guest lecturer
- A foreign scientist
A “guide for guest scientists and lecturers” can be consulted on the Agropolis site.
This tool is aimed at foreign researchers and teachers spending a period of time at establishments that are members of the European University Cluster and Agropolis International as doctoral students, post-doctoral students, guest researchers or lecturers, associates or those taking a sabbatical year.
It is also aimed at the managers of the laboratories who are hosting these visitors and at all those people involved in international mobility.
As a post-doctoral student
Please contact the Directorate for Research, Doctoral Studies and Evaluation: DREDEV
As a guest lecturer
You can also spend time at UM1 as a guest lecturer invited by a member of UM1 teaching staff.
As a lecturer at a non-French university, you can benefit from a paid one-month period spent at UM1 based on an invitation from a member of UM1 teaching staff and the host faculty.
Your request will be made through the relevant department when the annual campaign is launched. A host agreement for obtaining a visa (for lecturers from outside Europe) will be provided by the International Relations Service.
As a foreign scientist
The foreign scientist host scheme is available only to researchers from outside the European Union and the European Economic Area.
A host agreement should be filled out by the lecturer hosting the researcher so that the lecturer can obtain a visa from the French embassy. These agreements are available from the International Relations Service.
Montpellier 1 University has accommodation in Montpellier for use by our foreign partners (guest lecturers, researchers, post-doctoral researchers carrying out research in the UM1 laboratories).
Note: This accommodation is not available to students or doctoral students.
The period spent at UM1 should be a minimum of a week and a maximum of three months for the same person, between 1st September and 30th June.
The procedure to follow and the reservation forms can be found on the ENT (the university Intranet).
