 June 2008.
The mission of the University is to provide an international post-university higher education institution based in the Euro-Mediterranean area. The founders of the EMUNI University are universities and other higher education and research establishments.
The EMUNI University operates on the principle of providing a “university for universities”. It aims to consolidate respect for academic standards and react to initiatives undertaken by its founding organisations in both education and research matters.
The EMUNI Centre carries out the tasks of the Secretariat of the University. The University receives funding from a variety of sources: public, private and State, but also from the European Union budget. One of the most significant sources of funding is the money raised by the EMUNI Foundation.
One of the first steps at the time of creation of the EMUNI University was the signing of the Founding Act. The institutions that signed this Act have the right to name their representative in the General Assembly called to adopt the University statutes. To date, 96 institutions and 29 States have signed the Founding Act.

Each year the agency awards more than 2000 grants as part of its mobility programme.
The development of the AUF bears witness to its renown within the best universities, but also to the attractive nature of French as a language of teaching and culture on an international level.
